Nice To See You Alive Sherlock Holmes!!!!

the casts with the additional new one, Mary, second from the left
First of all, I want to apologize dear readers for not updating this blog for a while, and forgetting to write about the next episodes of I Hear Your Voice as I had promised. Well, my bad. I finished the drama a long time ago but I assure you, it's good and cute and it had a very nice ending.
Season 2 ended with this...The tomb of Sherlock Holmes
However this year, I just want to share my happiness of my long awaited reunion with my beloved Sherlock Holmes (it seem quite dramatic but I'm sure I'm not the only one in the world). So afte' yea's of waitin' (actually 2 years) and entertaining my self with Asian dramas, finally... SHERLOCK HOLMES!! YOHOO!!! I so miss Sherlock and John that I even get myself watch the American version of it, though it pales in comparison (sorry! It just feels like it lacks a lot of things). So guys! let us go to the other side of the globe..from Philippines, to South Korea, to Japan, and now London, England.

It's a nice New Years gift as in the first week I watched the BBC's season 3 of Sherlock Holmes. WARNING: SPOILERS ALERT!!

first meeting at the restaurant
Episode 1 is entitled The  Empty Hearse. In this first installment we get to watch Anderson's obsession of proving that Sherlock is alive (I clearly remember how antagonistic he is towards my husband...hikhikhik). Among  all the friends of Sherlock (though he has very few) and his acquaintances, only Anderson believed he's still roaming the earth in flesh and bone. In Season 2 (I so love the last episode), I was shocked like everybody else when Sherlock jumped off the hospital building. And we all heard the moving words of John Watson during the burial "Just one more thing Sherlock, one more miracle for me...don't be dead..stop this"...and I cried with him. I mourn with him. Well that's all in the past as Sherlock Holmes is very  much alive. Well actually there's a hint at the end of the second season, but how..HOW? (sorry Sherlock I borrowed your favorite interrogative word). Watch the answer yourself (hehehe), but I can tell you it's all about trick and drama like the theater (sorry borrowed again your words dear).
the lovely reaction of Mrs. Hudson seeing Sherlock for the first time after 2 years (on top of that she was there when he was buried)

But it's really funny how he thinks things were the same as it was before. He was expecting that after the trauma he caused John Watson he will welcome him with warm hug and welcoming words. He was not so prepared with his anger, and was surprise to learn that his friend, his only friend has a girl and is about to be engaged (and oh how he ruined the romantic proposal of John to Mary). The brawl in the restaurant really released the anger of John. I really laughed every time Sherlock opens his mouth to say or explain something, John would give him a nice punch in the face. And speaking of Mary, she has a nice character,  really she suits John. She finds Sherlock interesting and amusing. I like how she like the deep friendship between the two men. When John was abducted (again) and in danger she didn't hesitate asking for Sherlock's help, and how she used her wits to know that the messages sent to her was not just a spam but a code. It's quite funny though how I sense the jealousy of Sherlock on the new found love of John.I just hope that the woven good character of Mary will be until forever...I know they will not disappoint me :)))
Sherlock and Mary. John? underneath the bonfire
Actually, the case in this episode is not really the focus (though I know that it has to do with the future cases..by the way, where is Moriarty?) but it is more about Sherlock's return and his attempt to comeback to the life of the people he left behind, especially John. But I am actually touched at Lestrade's reaction when Sherlock appeared to him.. I mean he hugged him.....and that is just so sweet..

Well Sherlock solved the case (as he always do, that's just him....sooo brilliant). And yeah before I forgot, you get to meet also the parents of Sherlock. Yes, Mycroft and him actually have parents, they are not just some babies coming from some lab that are genetically modified. John grew a beard, Anderson also and both of them aged with that look.

I feel that in this episode, there are some changes in the life and lifestyle of both Sherlock and John. It is the same that is not the same(get me?) . Well for the coming Adventures.. I will be waiting. And I'm intrigue at how they will fit Mary into the story and make her more interesting. Oh, and I hope also Molly Hooper will be happier this time.

       That's it. He's back....
221B Baker Street is open to accept cases!!!!

I Hear Your Voice

The Master's Sun's drama was really nice and I really had fun watching it. So I was telling myself, I would let weeks to pass before I will watch another drama again. However,  my younger sister keeps on mentioning to me how good also I Hear Your Voice is...and of course I got curious. So my great plan of passing weeks to start another drama was just that, a plan.  Two days after, I started watching it.

I am not so familiar with most of  the casts, although I watch once Yoon Sang-hyun as he played the egoistic actor named Oska in the equally beautiful Secret Garden. Can I just add that he is also becoming one of my favorite actors. Lee Jung-suk came a long way from being the male model of the 2NE1's music video I Don't Care, to the supporting role as Han Tae-sun in Secret Garden to being the lead male actor in this drama I hear Your Voice.
Now enough of my long prologue.

The Episode 1 of this drama, which was also entitled I Hear your voice was about how the worlds of Lawyer Jang Hye-sung and Park Soo-ha started to intertwined. The opening scenes showed us the 19 year old Park Soo-ha and the young and struggling Lawyer Jang Hye-sung of whose plan is to become a public defender (but not of honorable reason hehehe). Yes guys, the girl is older than the boy for maybe  eight to 9 years (clap! clap! older women hehehe). Ten years back their roads already met when Hye-sung together with De-yeon witnessed a crime accidentally. Hye-sung in her senior high years lived in the household of Judge Seo Dae-seok, the father of Seo De-yeon.
Hye-sung and De-yeon was also a classmate and the first saw the latter cheated on their exam. Hye-sung did not tell anyone about it even though De-yeon became an honor student because of it. During the thanks-giving party of the parents of De-yeon someone accidentally shoot a firecracker in her eyes, and to make the story a little shorter Hye-sung was accused of being the culprit. Naturally, she denied it and actually cried denying it. But the Judge and his family already pointed a finger on her and they want her to apologize. She refused to apologize and because of that the judge send them out of the house and gave her mother somewhat like a separation fee. Hye-sung's mother accepted it although she begged her not to because for her accepting the money is also accepting that she was the one who did the offense. In this episode I really liked it when her mother spend the money buying the books of the judge and burn it in front of him and throw the line

"Reflection is making the heart warm. I didn't realize when I was reading the book, but now that I am burning it. I can feel the warmth. You are not listening to my words so I am showing it to you." It was really brave of her to say it to the judge, even Hye-sung was impressed of her mother. Just to learn later that she was trembling off nervousness when she said those words to the judge.

The night of the following day Hye-sung waited for De-seong lo let the latter say an apology to her and her mother. But they were surprised that on the road not far from them they heard a collision of two vehicles of which in the car was the young Park Soo-ha. They thought that it was just a normal accident but then they saw that the truck driver came down with a metal bar and strike the father of Soo-ha a lot of times which causes his death. The young Soo-ha was to be the next but in that moment also Hye-sung took a picture of the offender, and she forgot that her cellphone will make a "smile" sound every time the camera is used. The killer turn to them, luckily the police came and they were spared. But before the killer went he warned them of not telling it to anyone or else he will kill them and all the people they will tell and close to them. Of course they took the warning to their hearts but their conscience will not let them stay in peace also. So on the day of the trial a dare was made between Hye-sung and De-seon, that both of them will be a witness and both of them should open the door to the courthouse to give their testimonies. But then it was only Hye-sung who ended up being a witness. She feel cheated and her resentment towards De-seon increased. However because of that the killer was put to prison and the case did not just became a simple car accident but was really a murder case.

On the other hand, 9 year old Park Soo-ha because of that accident lost his ability to talk....BUT...He could read the mind of other people if he looks into their eyes. He hears the arrogance of the killer Min Joon Gook and the fear of Hye-sung. From that day on he vowed to work hard to protect the woman who gave justice to what happened to his father, and he really look up to her. Hye-sung for him is the epitome of honesty and bravery. Soo-ha looked for her even though ten years had passed already. She is his hero. But the lawyer Hye-sung was really not that honorable, she is extremely arrogant, rudely snob, she is messy, she eats food like a dog food., and during her trials she will not really fight for the innocence of her client but would just bid for a lesser year of punishment. She is jaded, only thinks of money and would use any situation for her advantage. but because of the story how she was being treated badly before and her story of being a witness to a crime she became a public defender.
Lawyer Cha is another applicant to be a public defender and he is so different from Lawyer Jjang Hye-sung. He is full of passion and he really believes in the innocence of his client. He has an honest character, cheerful and very hardworking....

Well that is for episode 1...See you next time for more episodes!!!

The 10 billion Won Radar and the Hideout

Dead people. Roaming ghost. A scared lady and a new found reluctant hideout.
Last Week I just finished watching one wonderful Korean Drama. It's about two people who are being haunted by ghost. One with the real  ghosts, as in literally the souls of the dead people; and the other one the of ghost of his past.
my favorite ghost in this drama...the ghost who likes coffee..

The Master's Sun is another work from the Hong sisters. Same writer of My Girl, My girlfriend is a Gumiho, The Greatest Love (Dogon dogon), and the very cute He's Beautiful, of which are my personal favorites also. This time in this drama their heroin is a girl who has the ability to see dead people. She is hounded by this restless souls day and night that she never lost her big eye-bags. After waking up from three years of being comatose, she never had a proper rest because ghosts always follow her around. She was put into hospitals (for physical and mental sickness) and had slept in a prison cell a lot of times that she already lost count. She was mistaken for being crazy as people see her talking to no one...

We could say that the start of the story line is a little silly (unless you are a sucker of ghost stories). But then again just like the other works of the Hong sisters they will kill your emotions and get you hooked with the background stories of their characters. While watching it I feel the struggle of Taeyang (the leading character) to live normally in her abnormal world and her desperation to look for a little peace (and a little sleep). When she knew Joo Jong-won and when she discovered that ghosts will disappear every time she touch him or the other way around, she clung to him real tight. And upon knowing that Taeyang can see ghosts, he also used her to talk to her dead girlfriend to ask where the 10 billion worth of necklace that his family owned went to.
They were actually using each other.. but in every mystery they solved and the ghosts problem (yes they actually have problems) they became closer and became more involved with each others world. The world she hated and one that he accepts and tried to understand. The drama was never absent of hilarious and cute scenes that you will not stop smiling and laughing in every episodes, although some of the stories of the ghosts the dilemma of the characters are also heart wrenching. Oh but it was so cool when the ex of Joo Jong-won (of whom played a big part in the story) possessed Taeyang.. I really liked how she throw the line "I'm your bad bitch"..goosebumps....It was really funny every time she got drunk and be possessed by different spirits (even dogs). The seductress Frenchwoman is really something (just watch to know). And oh oh it's really cute when Joo Jon-won said he thinks he is in love with Taeyang and she should take responsibility of it (kkyah!~ neo-mu kwi-yeop-da!!!!...)
I really like the supporting characters also, like the older sister of Taeyang, the way she supported her and even sacrifice her future for the sake of Taeyang (but she also had a nice ending with the security guy). Kang Woo who fought his fears to protect Taeyang, even Kim Yoo-ri's character is lovable (the way she call Kang Woo as salary man is even cute)..
I would really recommend this drama..it may sound serious the way I describe it but it is a light happy ending drama. Every character has closure and the twist with the dead ex-girlfriend is really a surprise...... Hong Sisters, So Ji Sub, and Gong Hyo-jin really did a great job..Thumbs up!!!

"The woman I love is the sun who is risen up there. Isn’t it incredible? She doesn’t just shine only to dead people like you. I’m seriously blinded by her brightness". Joo Jong-won
